Our three expert jurors, Camille Thomasson, Christian Ponce and Oscar González Barreto, convened, deliberated and here are their decisions:
The Jury of the first LATINO & IBERIAN FILM FESTIVAL AT YALE is pleased to announce the results of the Jury deliberation for the inaugural edition of the festival as follows:

The jury has decided to give a SPECIAL REGARD to Javier Macipe for his short film “Os meninos do rio”.

For an elegant and statically appealing work the jury awards BEST ANIMATED SHORT to Margarida Rego and it’s “A caça revoluções”.

For his fidelity to the characters and humanity of his vision, the jury awards
BEST SHORT FILM to Francisco Rodríguez and his film “Samanta”.

For giving voice to the people of the Aguan Valley, the jury has unanimously selected Jesse Freestone’s Resistencia for the SOCIAL JUSTICE AWARD

Recognizing a beautifully shot documentary giving witness to the determination and resilience of sisters bridging two cultures, the BEST DOCUMENTARY AWARD 
goes to Claudia Fisher and her film Ati y Mindhiva.

Recognizing a well balanced and sensitive telling of the impossible longings of boyhood, the Jury awards the BEST FEATURE FILM to Juan Pablo Sasiaín and his film Choele.
